I will go to the most inaccessible forest surrounded by deer and filled with excellent monkeys. I will live in the forest just as [I lived] in my father’s home. I will perform austerities while clasping Your lotus feet.
When Rāma worried, “Mārīca will become a deer in the forest. Because of him, we would be separated. Then who will reunite us? How can you stay without me?” Sītā-devī indicates [the answer to the questions in His mind] in this verse. The forest will be filled with invincible monkeys such as Sugrīva. She refers to living in a forest twice in this verse, indicating that she will live in Aśoka-vana [in Laṅkā]. She will then clasp the Lord’s lotus feet [in her heart] and perform austerities, which is indicated by the word saṁyatā.
