Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 32: Rāma Gives Away His Wealth Before Departing
Text 2.32.10

नागः शत्रुञ्जयो नाम मातुलो यं ददौ मम। तं ते गजसहस्रेण ददामि द्विजपुङ्गव॥

nāgaḥ śatruñjayo nāma mātulo yaṁ dadau mama taṁ te gaja-sahasreṇa dadāmi dvija-puṅgava

nāgaḥ = elephant; śatruñjayaḥ = Śatruñjaya; nāma = named; mātulaḥ = maternal uncle; yam = that; dadau = gave [Me]; mama = My; tam = the; te = you; gaja-sahasreṇa = along with a thousand [other] elephants; dadāmi = I give; dvija-puṅgava = O best of the twice-born.

O best of the twice-born, I give you the elephant named Śatruñjaya that My maternal uncle gave [Me] along with a thousand [other] elephants.

Because [Rāma specifies that this elephant] was given to Him by His maternal uncle, it is not the elephant Śatruñjaya belonging to Daśaratha.
