Chapter 32: Rāma Gives Away His Wealth Before Departing
Text 2.32.12

अथ भ्रातरमव्यग्रं प्रियं रामः प्रियंवदः। सौमित्रिं तमुवाचेदं ब्रह्मेव त्रिदशेश्वरम्॥

atha bhrātaram avyagraṁ priyaṁ rāmaḥ priyaṁvadaḥ saumitriṁ tam uvācedaṁ brahmeva tridaśeśvaram

atha = then; bhrātaram = to His brother; avyagram = and attentive; priyam = dear; rāmaḥ = Rāma; priyaṁvadaḥ = of pleasant speech; saumitrim tam = Lakṣmaṇa; uvāca = spoke; idam = the following  [words]; brahmā = Brahmā; iva = like; tridaśa-īśvaram = [speaking to] Indra, the lord of the demigods.

Then, like Brahmā [speaking to] Indra, the lord of the demigods, Rāma of pleasant speech spoke to His dear and attentive brother Lakṣmaṇa the following [words].
