Chapter 32: Rāma Gives Away His Wealth Before Departing
Text 2.32.41
इदं हि तेजस्तव यद्दुरत्ययं तदेव जिज्ञासितुमिच्छता मया। इमं भवानर्थमभिप्रचोदितो वृणीष्व किं चेदपरं व्यवस्यति॥
idaṁ hi tejas tava yad duratyayaṁ tad eva jijñāsitum icchatā mayā imaṁ bhavān artham abhipracodito vṛṇīṣva kiṁ ced aparaṁ vyavasyati
idam hi tejaḥ = prowess here; tava = of your; yat duratyayam = boundless; tat eva jijñāsitum icchatā = to find out the extent; mayā = I; imam = this; bhavān = you; artham1 abhipracoditaḥ = had requested; vṛṇīṣva = please take; kim cet aparam = whatever else; vyavasyati = you want.
“I had requested you this as I wanted to find out the extent of your boundless prowess here. Please take whatever else you want.

Rāma’s request to the brāhmaṇa, [“Please take whatever else you want,”] is not [spoken] in jest. He states this in the next verse.
