Chapter 33: Rāma, Sītā and Lakṣmaṇa Depart to Meet Daśaratha

ततः प्रासादहर्म्याणि विमानशिखराणि च।
अधिरुह्य जनः श्रीमानुदासीनो व्यलोकयत्॥
tataḥ prāsāda-harmyāṇi vimāna-śikharāṇi ca
adhiruhya janaḥ śrīmān udāsīno vyalokayat
tataḥ = then; prāsāda-harmyāṇi = temples, palaces, mansions 1; vimāna-śikharāṇi = the roofs of seven-storied buildings 2; ca = and; adhiruhya = climbing on; janaḥ = people [of Ayodhyā]; śrīmān = the glorious; udāsīnaḥ = with despondence; vyalokayat = looked [at Rāma].
Climbing on temples, palaces, mansions, and the roofs of seven-storied buildings, the glorious people [of Ayodhyā] then looked [at Rāma] with despondence.1
