Chapter 33: Rāma, Sītā and Lakṣmaṇa Depart to Meet Daśaratha

न हि रथ्याः स्म शक्यन्ते गन्तुं बहुजनाकुलाः।
आरुह्य तस्मात्प्रासादान्दीनाः पश्यन्ति राघवम्॥
na hi rathyāḥ sma śakyante gantuṁ bahu-janākulāḥ
āruhya tasmāt prāsādān dīnāḥ paśyanti rāghavam
na = not; hi = because; rathyāḥ = the roads; sma śakyante = it was possible; gantum = to walk [through them]; bahu-jana-ākulāḥ = were crowded with so many people; āruhya = climbed on top of and; tasmāt = and so; prāsādān = the buildings; dīnāḥ = the distressed people; paśyanti = saw; rāghavam = Rāghava.
Because the roads were crowded with so many people and so it was not possible to walk [through them], the distressed people climbed on top of the buildings and saw Rāghava.
GLOSS. This indicates that the people were extremely interested [in Rāghava].
