पितुस्ते वरदः कश्चिद्ददौ वरमनुत्तमम्।
सर्वभूतरुतं तस्मात्संजज्ञे वसुधाधिपः।
तेन तिर्यग्गतानां च भूतानां विदितं वचः॥
pitus te varadaḥ kaścid dadau varam anuttamam
sarva-bhūta-rutaṁ tasmāt saṁjajñe vasudhādhipaḥ
tena tiryag-gatānāṁ ca bhūtānāṁ viditaṁ vacaḥ
pituḥ = father; te = to your; varadaḥ = yogī who could grant benedictions; kaścit = a certain; dadau = had granted; varam = benediction; anuttamam = an excellent; sarva-bhūta-rutam = the sounds of all creatures 3; tasmāt = because of that; saṁjajñe = could understand; vasudhā-adhipaḥ = the king of Kekaya; tena = therefore; tiryak-gatānām = belonging to the lower species; ca = and; bhūtānām = of creatures; viditam vacaḥ = he understood the statements.
A certain yogī who could grant benedictions had granted an excellent benediction to your father. Because of that, the king of Kekaya could understand the sounds of all creatures and therefore he understood the statements of creatures belonging to the lower species.
