Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 35: Furious Sumantra Criticizes Kaikeyī
Text 2.35.31

न हि मिथ्या प्रतिज्ञातं करिष्यति तवानघः।
श्रीमान्दशरथो राजा देवि राजीवलोचनः॥

na hi mithyā pratijñātaṁ kariṣyasi tavānaghaḥ
śrīmān daśaratho rājā devi rājīva-locanaḥ

na hi = not; mithyā = false; pratijñātam = his promises; kariṣyasi = will render; tava = to you; anaghaḥ = the sinless; śrīmān = prosperous; daśarathaḥ = Daśaratha; rājā = King; devi = O queen; rājīva-locanaḥ = and lotus-eyed.

O queen, the sinless, prosperous and lotus-eyed King Daśaratha will not render his promises to you false.

Considering that Kaikeyī might be frightened while thinking “What will happen to my boons?” Sumantra now states that her goal will be accomplished in some other manner. [The prosperous king] will successfully fulfill those boons by activities such as honoring [Bharata] with jewels and ornaments that are more valuable than a kingdom.
