Chapter 35: Furious Sumantra Criticizes Kaikeyī
Text 2.35.33
परिवादो हि ते देवि महाँल्लोके चरिष्यति।
यदि रामो वनं याति विहाय पितरं नृपम्॥
parivādo hi te devi mahān loke cariṣyati
yadi rāmo vanaṁ yāti vihāya pitaraṁ nṛpam
parivādaḥ hi = criticism; te = you; devi = O queen; mahān = great; loke = among the people; cariṣyati = will face; yadi = if; rāmaḥ = Rāma; vanam = to the forest; yāti = goes; vihāya = gives up and; pitaram = His father; nṛpam = the king.
O queen, you will face great criticism among the people if Rāma gives up His father, the king, and goes to the forest.
