Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 35: Furious Sumantra Criticizes Kaikeyī
Text 2.35.34
saḥ1 rājyam = the kingdom; rāghavaḥ = Rāghava; pātu = let maintain; bhava tvam = become; vigata-jvarā = free from your feverish distress; na = no; hi = indeed; te = your; rāghavāt = than Rāghava; anyaḥ = one other; kṣamaḥ = is capable as the king; pura-vare = in excellent city; vaset = of residing.
Let Rāghava maintain the kingdom. Become free from your feverish distress.1 Indeed, no one other than Rāghava is capable of residing in your excellent city as the king.
Because Bharata is younger, it is not appropriate for Kaikeyī to place Him on the throne, according to Sumantra.
