Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 36: Kaikeyī Forbids the King from Sending Wealth With Rāma
Text 2.36.6

निघ्नन्मृगान्कुञ्जरांश्च पिबंश्चारण्यकं मधु।
नदीश्च विविधाः पश्यन्न राज्यस्य स्मरिष्यति॥

nighnan mṛgān kuñjarāṁś ca pibaṁś cāraṇyakaṁ madhu
nadīś ca vividhāḥ paśyan na rājyasya smariṣyati

nighnan = while restraining; mṛgān = the beasts; kuñjarān = elephants; ca = and; piban ca = drinking; āraṇyakam = forest; madhu = honey; nadīḥ = rivers; ca = and; vividhāḥ = the various; paśyan = watching; na = not; rājyasya = the kingdom; smariṣyati = He will remember.

While restraining the beasts and elephants, drinking forest honey and watching the various rivers, He will not remember the kingdom.1

1 Technical note: prasiddhaś ca ni-pūrvaka-hanaḥ nivartanārthakatvaṁ “śiṣṭaṁ nighnanti kampitam” ityādinā veda-bhāṣye. tatra vadho nārthaḥ, śabdānām anityatvāpatteḥ. matāntare’pi śabdānāṁ prāṇa-sambāndhābhāvena prāṇāviyogānukūla-vyāpārārthasyātrāsambhavāt. Another point: “He will not remember the kingdom” indicates that according to Daśaratha, Rāma will be so happy that He would not even care for the kingdom that He had given up.
