Chapter 36: Kaikeyī Forbids the King from Sending Wealth With Rāma

श्रुत्वा तु सिद्धार्थवचो राजा श्रान्ततरस्वनः।
शोकोपहतया वाचा कैकेयीमिदमब्रवीत्।।
śrutvā tu siddhārtha-vaco rājā śrāntatara-svanaḥ
śokopahatayā vācā kaikeyīm idam abravīt
śrutvā tu = upon hearing; siddhārtha-vacaḥ = the words of Siddhārtha; rājā = the king; śrāntatara-svanaḥ = in an even softer voice; śoka-upahatayā = afflicted with sorrow; vācā = with words; kaikeyīm = to Kaikeyī; idam = the following; abravīt = spoke.
Upon hearing the words of Siddhārtha, the king spoke the following to Kaikeyī in an even softer voice with words afflicted with sorrow.
