Chapter 45: The Brāhmaṇas from Ayodhyā Follow Rāma
Text 2.45.20
गच्छन्तमेव तं दृष्ट्वा रामं सम्भ्रान्तचेत॑सः।
ऊचुः परमसन्तप्ता रामं वाक्यमिदं द्विजाः॥
gacchantam eva taṁ dṛṣṭvā rāmaṁ sambhrānta-cetasaḥ
ūcuḥ parama-santaptā rāmaṁ vākyam idaṁ dvijāḥ
gacchantam eva = was still heading [to the forest]; tam = about Him; dṛṣṭvā = noticed that; rāmam = Rāma; sambhrānta-cetasaḥ = they became perplexed in mind; ūcuḥ = they spoke; parama-santaptāḥ = in extreme anxiety; rāmam = to Rāma; vākyam = words; idam = the following; dvijāḥ = when the twice-born.
When the twice-born noticed that Rāma was still heading [to the forest], they became perplexed in mind about Him. They spoke the following words in extreme anxiety to Rāma.
Despite being given many reasons [to not go], Rāma continued to go [to the forest] to carry out His father’s order.
