Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 45: The Brāhmaṇas from Ayodhyā Follow Rāma
Text 2.45.28

बहूनां वितता यज्ञा द्विजानां य इहागताः।
तेषां समाप्तिरायत्ता तव वत्स निवर्तने॥

bahūnāṁ vitatā yajñā dvijānāṁ ya ihāgatāḥ
teṣāṁ samāptir āyattā tava vatsa nivartane

bahūnām = of the several; vitatāḥ = extensive; yajñāḥ = sacrifices; dvijānām = twice-born; ye = who; iha = here; āgatāḥ = have come; teṣām = of the; samāptiḥ = the completion; āyattāḥ = are dependent; tava = Your; vatsa = dear child; nivartane = on return.

Dear child, the completion of the extensive sacrifices of the several twice-born who have come here are dependent on Your return.

Vitatāḥ indicates that the ingredients for these sacrifices had already been collected.

These brāhmaṇas imply that all these sacrifices would be stopped if He were not to return.

From the next verse on, they point out that not only the brāhmaṇas, even the birds and immovable creatures hankered for Him to return.
