Chapter 49: Rāma Continues on Towards the Forest
Text 2.49.11

गत्वा तु सुचिरं कालं ततः शिवजलां नदीम्।
गोमतीं गोयुतानूपामतरत्सागरङ्गमाम्॥

gatvā tu suciraṁ kālaṁ tataḥ śiva-jalāṁ nadīm
gomatīṁ go-yutānūpām atarat sāgaraṅgamām

gatvā tu = traveling; suciram = for a very long; kālam = time; tataḥ = after; śiva-jalām = whose water was auspicious; nadīm = the river; gomatīm = Gomatī; go-yuta-anūpām = the river was surrounded by watery land and cows; atarat = He crossed; sāgaraṅgamām = it flowed towards the ocean.

After traveling for a very long time, He crossed the river Gomatī whose water was auspicious. The river was surrounded by watery land and cows. It flowed towards the ocean.
