Chapter 49: Rāma Continues on Towards the Forest
Text 2.49.12
गोमतीं चाप्यतिक्रम्य राघवः शीघ्रगैर्हयैः।
मयूरहंसाभिरुतां ततार स्यन्दिका नदीम्॥
gomatīṁ cāpy atikramya rāghavaḥ śīghragair hayaiḥ
mayūra-haṁsābhirutāṁ tatāra syandikāṁ nadīm
gomatīm ca api = the Gomatī; atikramya = after crossing; rāghavaḥ = Rāghava; śīghragaiḥ = with fast-moving; hayaiḥ = horses; mayūra-haṁsa-abhirutām = that was filled with the sounds of peacocks and swans; tatāra = crossed; syandikām = Syandikā; nadīm = the river.
After crossing the Gomatī with the fast-moving horses, Rāghava crossed the river Syandikā that was filled with the sounds of peacocks and swans.
