Chapter 49: Rāma Continues on Towards the Forest
Text 2.49.14
सूत इत्येव चाभाष्य सारथिं तमभीक्ष्णशः।
हंसमत्तस्वरः श्रीमानुवाच पुरुषर्षभः॥
sūta ity eva cābhāṣya sārathiṁ tam abhīkṣṇaśaḥ
haṁsa-matta-svarah śrīmān uvāca puruṣa-rṣabhaḥ
sūta iti eva = ṣūta; ca = also; ābhāṣya = called out and; sārathim = charioteer; tam = to the; abhīkṣṇaśaḥ = repeatedly; haṁsa-matta-svarah = with the tone of an intoxicated swan; śrīmān = the handsome; uvāca = spoke [the following]; puruṣa-rṣabhaḥ = prince.
The handsome prince also repeatedly called out to the charioteer, “Sūta!” and spoke [the following] with the tone of an intoxicated swan.
