Chapter 55: Rāma Leaves Bharadvāja’s Āśrama and Crosses the Yamunā

रमणीयान्बहुविधान्पादपान्कुसुमोत्कटान्।
सीतावचनसंरब्ध आनयामास लक्ष्मणः॥
ramaṇīyān bahu-vidhān pādapān kusumotkaṭān
sītā-vacana-saṁrabdha ānayām āsa lakṣmaṇaḥ
ramaṇīyān = pleasant parts; bahu-vidhān = of several kinds; pādapān = of trees; kusuma-utkaṭān = filled with immense flowers; sītā-vacana-saṁrabdhaḥ = expedited by hearing Sītā-devī’s words; ānayām āsa = brought; lakṣmaṇaḥ = Lakṣmaṇa.
Expedited by hearing Sītā-devī’s words, Lakṣmaṇa brought pleasant parts of trees of several kinds filled with immense flowers.
GLOSS. This is a partial illustration [of Lakṣmaṇa’s activities]. He also brought shrubs and so on. He uttered their names and brought them.
