Chapter 55: Rāma Leaves Bharadvāja’s Āśrama and Crosses the Yamunā
Text 2.55.33

क्रोशमात्रं ततो गत्वा भ्रातरौ रामलक्ष्मणौ।
बहून्मेध्यान्मृगान्हत्वा चेरतुर्यमुनावने॥

krośa-mātraṁ tato gatvā bhrātarau rāma-lakṣmaṇau
bahūn medhyān mṛgān hatvā ceratur yamunā-vane

krośa-mātram = a krośa; tataḥ = from there; gatvā = having gone; bhrātarau = the brothers; rāma-lakṣmaṇau = Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa; bahūn = many; medhyān = mighty; mṛgān = beasts [that came in Their way]; hatvā = killed; ceratuḥ = and walked; yamunā-vane = in the forest by Yamunā.

Having gone a krośa from there, the brothers Rāma and   Lakṣmaṇa killed many mighty beasts [that came in Their way] and walked in the forest by Yamunā.1
