Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 62: Kausalyā Pacifies Daśaratha
Text 2.62.4

तस्य चिन्तयमानस्य प्रत्यभात्कर्म दुष्कृतम्।
यदनेन कृतं पूर्वमज्ञानाच्छब्दवेधिना॥

tasya cintayamānasya pratyabhāt karma duṣkṛtam
yad anena kṛtaṁ pūrvam ajñānāc chabda-vedhinā

tasya cintayamānasya = while he was contemplating; pratyabhāt = he remembered; karma = act; duṣkṛtam = a sinful; yat = that; anena = he had; kṛtam = committed; pūrvam = in the past; ajñānāt = ignorantly; śabda-vedhinā = as śabda-vedhī [archer].

While he was contemplating, he remembered a sinful act that he had ignorantly committed in the past as a śabda-vedhī [archer].

That sinful act was his killing the son of a sage. A śabda-vedhī [archer] can pierce a target [merely] upon hearing its sound [and without having to see it].
