Chapter 63: Daśaratha Remembering Killing a Sage’s Innocent Son

स राजा रजनीं षष्ठीं रामे प्रव्राजिते वनम्।
अर्धरात्रे दशरथः संस्मरन्दुष्कृतं कृतम्॥
sa rājā rajanīṁ ṣaṣṭhīṁ rāme pravrājite vanam
ardha-rātre daśarathaḥ saṁsmaran duṣkṛtaṁ kṛtam
saḥ rājā = king; rajanīm = night; ṣaṣṭhīm = on the sixth; rāme = after Rāma; pravrājite = had been banished; vanam = to the forest; ardha-rātre = in the middle of the night; daśarathaḥ = Daśaratha; saṁsmaran = remembered; duṣkṛtam = a sinful activity; kṛtam = he had committed in the past.
On the sixth night after Rāma had been banished to the forest, King Daśaratha remembered, in the middle of the night, a sinful activity he had committed in the past.1
