Chapter 63: Daśaratha Remembering Killing a Sage’s Innocent Son
Text 2.63.15

उपास्य हि रसान्भौमांस्तप्त्वा च जगदंशुभिः।
परेताचरितां भीमां रविराविशते दिशम्॥

upāsya hi rasān bhaumāṁs taptvā ca jagad aṁśubhiḥ
paretācaritāṁ bhīmāṁ ravir āviśate diśam

upāsya hi = having dried up; rasān = the liquids; bhaumān = on the earth; taptvā = heated up; ca = and; jagat = the world; aṁśubhiḥ = with its rays; pareta-ācaritām = frequented by the pretas; bhīmām = the terrible; raviḥ = the sun; āviśate = had entered; diśam = direction.

Having dried up the liquids on earth and heated up the world with its rays, the sun had entered the terrible direction frequented by the pretas.
