Chapter 63: Daśaratha Remembering Killing a Sage’s Innocent Son
Text 2.63.36

तस्याहं करुणं श्रुत्वा निशि लालपतो बहु।
संभ्रान्तः शोकवेगेन भृशमासं विचेतनः॥

tasyāhaṁ karuṇaṁ śrutvā niśi lālapato bahu
sambhrāntaḥ śoka-vegena bhṛśam āsaṁ vicetanaḥ

tasya = him; aham = I; karuṇam = piteously; śrutvā = upon hearing; niśi = that night; lālapataḥ = who was talking; bahu = very; sambhrāntaḥ = became bewildered and; śoka-vegena = by the force of sorrow; bhṛśam = completely; āsam vicetanaḥ = lost sense [of what to do].

Upon hearing him who was talking very piteously that night, I became bewildered and completely lost sense [of what to do] by the force of sorrow.
