Chapter 63: Daśaratha Remembering Killing a Sage’s Innocent Son
Text 2.63.42

तौ कथं दुर्बलावन्धौ मत्प्रतीक्षौ पिपासितौ।
चिरमाशाकृतां तृष्णां कष्टां सन्धारयिष्यतः॥

tau kathaṁ durbalāv andhau mat-pratīkṣau pipāsitau
ciram āśā-kṛtāṁ tṛṣṇām kaṣṭāṁ sandhārayiṣyataḥ

tau = they are; katham = how will; durbalau = weak; andhau = and old; mat-pratīkṣau = they are waiting for me; pipāsitau ciram = holding their thirst for a long time; āśā-kṛtām = hoping that their son will bring them water]; tṛṣṇām = thirst; kaṣṭām = their intolerable; sandhārayiṣyataḥ = they tolerate.

They are weak and old. They are waiting for me, holding their thirst for a long time, hoping that their son will bring them water. How will they tolerate their intolerable thirst?
