Chapter 63: Daśaratha Remembering Killing a Sage’s Innocent Son
Text 2.63.46

इयमेकपदी राजन्यतो मे पितुराश्रमः।
तं प्रसादय गत्वा त्वं न त्वां स कुपितः शपेत्॥

iyam eka-padī rājan yato me pitur āśramaḥ
taṁ prasādaya gatvā tvaṁ na tvāṁ sa kupitaḥ śapet

iyam = here; eka-padī = is a lane; rājan = O king; yataḥ = leading to; me = my; pituḥ = father’s; āśramaḥ = āśrama; tam prasādaya = and beseech him [so that]; gatvā tvam = go; na = does not; tvām = you; saḥ = he; kupitaḥ = in anger; śapet = curse.

O king, here is a lane leading to my father’s asrama. Go and beseech him [so that] he does not curse you in anger.

Eka-padī indicates that the lane was [narrow], through which only one person could walk 4.
