Chapter 65: Daśaratha’s Wives Lament About his Departure
Text 2.65.5

तेन शब्देन विहगाः प्रतिबुद्धा विसस्वनुः।
शाखास्थाः पञ्जरस्थाश्च ये राजकुलगोचराः॥

tena śabdena vihagāḥ pratibuddhā visasvanuḥ
śākhāsthāḥ pañjarasthāś ca ye rāja-kula-gocarāḥ

tena = [upon hearing] that; śabdena = sound; vihagāḥ = the parrots and other birds; pratibuddhāḥ = woke up; visasvanuḥ = and chirped; śākhāsthāḥ = on the branches; pañjarasthāḥ = in the cages; ca = and; ye rāja-kula-gocarāḥ = in the king’s residence.

[Upon hearing] that sound, the parrots and other birds on the branches and in the cages in the king’s residence woke up and chirped.

The king’s residence had trees in their groves and some birds were on the branches.
