Chapter 65: Daśaratha’s Wives Lament About his Departure
Text 2.65.15
अथ संवेपमानानां स्त्रीणां दृष्ट्वा च पार्थिवम्।
यत्तदाशङ्कितं पापं तदा जज्ञे विनिश्चयः॥
atha saṁvepamānānāṁ strīṇāṁ dṛṣṭvā ca pārthivam
yat tad āśaṅkitaṁ pāpaṁ tadā jajñe viniścayaḥ
atha1 saṁvepamānānām = the trembling; strīṇām = women; dṛṣṭvā ca = having observed [carefully]; pārthivam = the king; yat = that; tat = the; āśaṅkitam = he had apprehended [had taken place]; pāpam = terrible event; tadā jajñe viniścayaḥ = concluded.
Having observed the king [carefully], the trembling women concluded that the terrible event that he had apprehended [had taken place].

The terrible event was his death.
