Chapter 65: Daśaratha’s Wives Lament About his Departure
Text 2.65.16
कौसल्या च सुमित्रा च पुत्रशोकपराजिते।
प्रसुप्ते न प्रबुध्येते यथा कालसमन्विते॥
kausalyā ca sumitrā ca putra-śoka-parājite
prasupte na prabudhyete yathā kāla-samanvite
kausalyā ca = Kausalyā; sumitrā ca = and Sumitrā; putra-śoka-parājite = overcome by distress about their sons; prasupte = had fallen asleep [that night]; na prabudhyete = and hadn’t woken up [by now]; yathā kāla-samanvite = dead.
Overcome by distress about their sons, Kausalyā and Sumitrā had fallen dead asleep [that night] and hadn’t woken up [by now].
