Chapter 65: Daśaratha’s Wives Lament About his Departure
Text 2.65.23
सा कोसलेन्द्रदुहिता वेष्टमाना महीतले।
न बभ्राज रजोध्वस्ता तारेव गगनाच्च्युता॥
sā kosalendra-duhitā veṣṭamānā mahī-tale
na babhrāja rajo-dhavastā tāreva gaganāc cyutā
sā kosala-indra-duhitā = the Princess of Kosala; veṣṭamānā = trembled; mahī-tale = on the ground; na babhrāja = she did not shine [anymore]; rajaḥ-dhavastā = and was covered with dust; tārā iva = like a star; gaganāt = from the sky; cyutā = fallen.
The Princess of Kosala trembled on the ground and was covered with dust. Like a star fallen from the sky, she did not shine [anymore].
