Chapter 65: Daśaratha’s Wives Lament About his Departure
Text 2.65.25
ततः सर्वा नरेन्द्रस्य कैकेयीप्रमुखाः स्त्रियः।
रुदन्त्यः शोकसंतप्ता निपेतुर्गतचेतनाः॥
tataḥ sarvā narendrasya kaikeyī-pramukhāḥ striyaḥ
rudantyaḥ śoka-santaptā nipetur gata-cetanāḥ
tataḥ = then; sarvāḥ = all; nara-indrasya = of the king; kaikeyī-pramukhāḥ = headed by Kaikeyī; striyaḥ = the wives; rudantyaḥ = cried; śoka-santaptāḥ = became tormented by sorrow; nipetuḥ = and fell [on the ground]; gata-cetanāḥ = became unconscious.
Then all the wives of the king headed by Kaikeyī cried, became tormented by sorrow, became unconscious and fell [on the ground].
