Chapter 66: Daśaratha’s Ministers Preserve his Body
Text 2.66.18
हा महाराज रामेण सततं प्रियवादिना।
विहीनाः सत्यसंधेन किमर्थं विजहासि नः॥
hā mahā-rāja rāmeṇa satataṁ priya-vādinā
vihīnāḥ satya-sandhena kim arthaṁ vijahāsi naḥ
hā = O; mahā-rāja = Mahārāja; rāmeṇa = Rāma; satatam = always; priya-vādinā = would speak [to us] pleasingly; vihīnāḥ = He has left us; satya-sandhena = and He was fixed on truthfulness; kim artham = why did; vijahāsi = you leave; naḥ = us [too].
O Mahārāja, Rāma would always speak [to us] pleasingly and He was fixed on truthfulness. He has left us. Why did you leave us [too]?
