Chapter 66: Daśaratha’s Ministers Preserve his Body
Text 2.66.20
स हि नाथः सदास्माकं तव च प्रभुरात्मवान्।
वनं रामो गतः श्रीमान्विहाय नृपतिश्रियम्॥
sa hi nāthaḥ sadāsmākaṁ tava ca prabhur ātmavān
vanaṁ rāmo gataḥ śrīmān vihāya nṛpati-śriyam
saḥ hi = [but] he has [now]; nāthaḥ = caretaker; sadā = always; asmākam = our; tava = your; ca = and; prabhuḥ = capable; ātmavān = the self-controlled; vanam = to the forest; rāmaḥ = Rāma is; gataḥ = gone; śrīmān = and handsome; vihāya = after giving up; nṛpati-śriyam = the opulences of a king.
The self-controlled and handsome Rāma is always our and your capable caretaker. [But] He has [now] gone to the forest after giving up the opulences of a king!
