Chapter 66: Daśaratha’s Ministers Preserve his Body
Text 2.66.24
निशा चन्द्रविहीनेव स्त्रीव भर्तृविवर्जिता।
पुरी नाराजतायोध्या हीना राज्ञा महात्मना॥
niśā candra-vihīneva strīva bhatṛ-vivarjitā
purī nārājatāyodhyā hīnā rājñā mahātmanā
niśā = the night; candra-vihīnā = without the moon; iva = like; strī = a woman; iva = and like; bhatṛ-vivarjitā = without her husband; purī = the city; na arājata = appeared dark; ayodhyā = of Ayodhyā; hīnā = without; rājñā = King Daśaratha; mahā-ātmanā = the great soul.
Without the great soul King Daśaratha, the city of Ayodhyā appeared dark like the night without the moon and like a woman without her husband.
