Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 68: Vasiṣṭha’s Messengers go to Bring Bharata
Text 2.68.7

पुरोहितस्त्वां कुशलं प्राह सर्वे च मन्त्रिणः।
त्वरमाणश्च निर्याहि कृत्यमात्ययिकं त्वया॥

purohitas tvāṁ kuśalaṁ prāha sarve ca mantriṇaḥ
tvaramāṇaś ca niryāhi kṛtyam ātyayikaṁ tvayā

purohitaḥ = the priest; tvām = to You; kuśalam = his regards; prāha = conveys; sarve = all; ca = and so do; mantriṇaḥ = the ministers; tvaramāṇaḥ ca = immediately; niryāhi = please come; kṛtyam = need to perform; ātyayikam = an urgent work [here in Ayodhyā]; tvayā = You.

The priest conveys his regards to You and so do all the ministers. Please come immediately. You need to perform an urgent work [here in Ayodhyā].

Ātyayikaṁ also indicates that Vasiṣṭha wanted to tell Bharata, “There is a difficult work for You [here in Ayodhyā].” 1

GLOSS. Ātyayikam indicates that there was some work that only Bharata could perform.
