Chapter 68: Vasiṣṭha’s Messengers go to Bring Bharata
Text 2.68.8
मा चास्मै प्रोषितं रामं मा चास्मै पितरं मृतम्।
भवन्तः शंसिषुर्गत्वा राघवाणामिमं क्षयम्॥
mā cāsmai proṣitaṁ rāmaṁ mā cāsmai pitaraṁ mṛtam
bhavantaḥ śaṁsiṣur gatvā rāghavāṇām imaṁ kṣayam
mā ca = don’t; asmai = Him; proṣitam rāmam = that Rāma has been banished; mā ca = don’t; asmai = him; pitaram = that His father; mṛtam = has died; bhavantaḥ śaṁsiṣuḥ = tell; gatvā = having met Him; rāghavāṇām = of the members of the Raghu dynasty; imam kṣayam = the loss of prowess 2.
Having met Him, don’t tell Him that Rāma has been banished. Don’t tell Him that His father has died [or about] the loss of prowess of the members of the Raghu dynasty.
