Chapter 68: Vasiṣṭha’s Messengers go to Bring Bharata
Text 2.68.16

निकूलवृक्षमासाद्य दिव्यं सत्योपयाचनम्।
अभिगम्याभिवाद्यं तं कुलिङ्गां प्राविशन्पुरीम्॥

nikūla-vṛkṣam āsādya divyaṁ satyopayācanam
abhigamyābhivādyaṁ taṁ kuliṅgāṁ prāviśan purīm

nikūla-vṛkṣam = nikūla tree; āsādya = they reached; divyam = a divine; satyopayācanam = named Satyopayācana; abhigamya = they circumambulated; abhivādyam = which was meant to be respectfully honored by all; tam = it; kuliṅgām = of Kuliṅgā; prāviśan = and entered; purīm = the city.

They reached a divine nikūla tree named Satyopayācana which was meant to be respectfully honored by all. They circumambulated it and entered the city of Kuliṅgā.

The nikūla tree was a pious tree on the western bank of Śaradaṇdā. It was divine, that is, filled with the presence of the Lord. Satyopayācana literally means “that which fulfills one’s prayers.” Its name was appropriate to its nature: it granted whatever one sought.
