Chapter 73: Bharata Decides to Bring Rāma Back
Text 2.73.7
त्वां प्राप्य हि पिता मेऽद्य सत्यसन्धो महायशाः।
तीव्रदुःखाभिन्तप्तो वृत्तो दशरथो नृपः॥
tvāṁ prāpya hi pitā me ’dya satya-sandho mahā-yaśāḥ
tīvra-duḥkhābhisantapto vṛtto daśaratho nṛpaḥ
tvām = you; prāpya = by attaining; hi = indeed; pitā = father; me = My; adya = now; satya-sandhaḥ = who was truthful to his promises; mahā-yaśāḥ = greatly famous; tīvra-duḥkha-abhisantaptaḥ = pained by extreme distress; vṛttaḥ = has departed [from this world]; daśarathaḥ = Daśaratha; nṛpaḥ = King.
Indeed, by attaining you, My greatly famous father King Daśaratha who was truthful to his promises has now departed [from this world], pained by extreme distress.
