Chapter 73: Bharata Decides to Bring Rāma Back
Text 2.73.8
विनाशितो महाराजः पिता मे धर्मवत्सलः।
कस्मात्प्रव्राजितो रामः कस्मादेव वनं गतः॥
vināśito mahā-rājaḥ pitā me dharma-vatsalaḥ
kasmāt pravrājito rāmaḥ kasmād evaṁ vanaṁ gataḥ
vināśitaḥ = did you desroy; mahā-rājaḥ = Mahārāja Daśaratha; pitā = father; me = My; dharma-vatsalaḥ = who was devoted to dharma; kasmāt = why; pravrājitaḥ = did you exile; rāmaḥ = Rāma; kasmāt = why; evam = in this manner; vanam = to the forest; gataḥ = and send.
Why did you destroy My father Mahārāja Daśaratha who was devoted to dharma? Why did you exile and send Rāma to the forest in this manner?
