Chapter 75: Bharata’s Conversation with Kausalyā-devī
Text 2.75.41
मा स धर्मे मनो भूयादधर्मं सुनिषेवताम्।
अपात्रवर्षी भवतु यस्यार्योऽनुमते गतः॥
mā sma dharme mano bhūyād adharmaṁ suniṣevatām
apātra-varṣī bhavatu yasyāryo ’numate gataḥ
mā sma = never ever; dharme = on dharma; manaḥ = his mind; bhūyāt = may fix; adharmam = adharma; suniṣevatām = fully pursue; apātra-varṣī bhavatu = and shower [his wealth] upon the unworthy; yasya = whose; āryaḥ = noble Rāma; anumate = [he] with consent; gataḥ = has departed [to the forest].
May [he] with whose consent noble Rāma has departed [to the forest] never ever fix his mind on dharma, fully pursue adharma and shower [his wealth] upon the unworthy.1
