Chapter 75: Bharata’s Conversation with Kausalyā-devī
Text 2.75.42

सञ्चितान्यस्य वित्तानि विविधानि सहस्रशः।
दस्युभिर्विप्रलुप्यन्तां यस्यार्योऽनुमते गतः॥

sañcitāny asya vittāni vividhāni sahasraśaḥ
dasyubhir vipralupyantāṁ yasyāryo ’numate gataḥ

sañcitāni = accumulated; asya = of the person; vittāni = riches; vividhāni = the various; sahasraśaḥ = thousands of; dasyubhiḥ = by thieves; vipralupyantām = may be stolen; yasya = whose; āryaḥ = noble Rāma; anumate = with consent; gataḥ = has departed [to the forest].

May the various accumulated riches of the person with whose consent noble Rāma has departed [to the forest] be stolen by thousands of thieves.1

1 This is the result of having accrued sinful reactions. He who consents to Rāma’s departure will accrue sinful reactions which will cause him to experience such loss of wealth.
