Chapter 75: Bharata’s Conversation with Kausalyā-devī
Text 2.75.54
पानीयदूषके पापं तथैव विषदायके।
यत्तदेकः स लभतां यस्यार्योऽनुमते गतः॥
pānīya-dūṣake pāpaṁ tathaiva viṣa-dāyake
yat tad ekaḥ sa labhatāṁ yasyāryo ’numate gataḥ
pānīya-dūṣake = of one who adulterates drinking water; pāpam = sinful reaction; tathā eva = and; viṣa-dāyake = and gives poison; yat tat = the; ekaḥ = alone; saḥ = he; labhatām = may attain; yasya = whose; āryaḥ = noble Rāma; anumate = with consent; gataḥ = has departed [to the forest].
May he with whose consent noble Rāma has departed [to the forest] alone attain the sinful reaction of one who adulterates drinking water and gives poison.
