Chapter 80: A Pathway for Bharata’s Journey is Constructed
Text 2.80.5
ते स्ववारं समास्थाय वर्त्मकर्मणि कोविदाः।
करणैर्विविधोपेतैः पुरस्तात्संप्रतस्थिरे॥
te sva-vāraṁ samāsthāya vartma-karmaṇi kovidāḥ
karaṇair vividhopetaiḥ purastāt sampratasthire
te = those; sva-vāram samāsthāya = each taking their turn 3; vartma-karmaṇi = in road-construction; kovidāḥ = expert; karaṇaiḥ = of instruments; vividha-upetaiḥ = with various kinds; purastāt = ahead; sampratasthire = proceeded.
Each taking their turn, those expert in road construction proceeded ahead with various kinds of instruments.
The various kinds of instruments were spades, hatchets and so on.
