पुत्रे वा ह्येकपुत्रायाः सहभार्ये वनं गते॥
kaccin nu lakṣmaṇe putra śrutaṁ te kiñcid apriyam
putre vā hy eka-putrāyāḥ saha-bhārye vanaṁ gate
kaccit nu = did; lakṣmaṇe = about Lakṣmaṇa; putra = son; śrutam = hear; te = You; kiñcit = anything; apriyam = displeasing; putre = the son; vā = or; hi eka-putrāyāḥ = of that woman, who has only one son; saha-bhārye = with His wife; vanam gate = who had gone to the forest.
Son, did You hear anything displeasing about Lakṣmaṇa or the son of that woman, who has only one son, who had gone to the forest with His wife?
“That woman who has only one son” refers Kausalyā herself.
