Text 2.96.6
तांश्च विद्रवतो दृष्ट्वा तं च श्रुत्वा च निःस्वनम्।
उवाच रामः सौमित्रिं लक्ष्मणं दीप्ततेजसम्॥
tāṁś ca vidravato dṛṣṭvā taṁ ca śrutvā ca niḥsvanam
uvāca rāmaḥ saumitriṁ lakṣmaṇaṁ dīpta-tejasam
tān ca = them; vidravataḥ = running; dṛṣṭvā = noticing; tam ca1 śrutvā ca = and hearing; niḥsvanam = the noise; uvāca = spoke the following; rāmaḥ = Rāma; saumitrim = the son of Sumitrā; lakṣmaṇam = to Lakṣmaṇa; dīpta-tejasam = who was blazing with prowess.
Noticing them running and hearing the noise, Rāma spoke the following to Lakṣmaṇa, the son of Sumitrā, who was blazing with prowess.
1 Technical note: tam niḥsvanam ca.
Because Lakṣmaṇa was blazing with prowess, He was capable of finding out what Rāma wanted Him to find out.
