Chapter 99: Bharata Meets Rāma
Text 2.99.5

शालायास्त्वग्रतस्तस्या ददर्श भरतस्तदा।
काष्ठानि चावभग्नानि पुष्पाण्युपचितानि च॥

śālāyās tv agratas tasyā dadarśa bharatas tadā
kāṣṭhāni cāvabhagnāni puṣpāṇy upacitāni ca

śālāyāḥ tu = residence; agrataḥ = in front; tasyāḥ = of that; dadarśa = saw; bharataḥ = Bharata; tadā = then; kāṣṭhāni ca = of wood; avabhagnāni = broken pieces; puṣpāṇi = flowers; upacitāni = plucked; ca = and.

Bharata then saw in front of that residence broken pieces of wood and plucked flowers.

These pieces of wood were to be burnt to give light at night.  The flowers were for worship.
