Chapter 99: Bharata Meets Rāma
Text 2.99.40

शत्रुघ्नश्चापि रामस्य ववन्दे चरणौ रुदन्।
तावुभौ स समालिङ्ग्य रामश्चाश्रूण्यवर्तयत्॥

śatrughnaś cāpi rāmasya vavande caraṇau rudan
tāv ubhau sa samāliṅgya rāmaś cāśrūṇy avartayat

śatrughnaḥ = Śatrughna; ca api = also; rāmasya = unto Rāma’s; vavande = offered His respectful obeisances; caraṇau = feet; rudan = while crying; tau ubhau = both of Them; saḥ1 samāliṅgya = embraced; rāmaḥ = Rāma; ca = and; aśrūṇi = tears; avartayat = shed.

Śatrughna also offered His respectful obeisances unto Rāma’s feet while crying.1 Rāma embraced both of Them and shed tears.

1 This demonstrates that if one is a genuine devotee of a genuine devotee of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, he will have the same affection for the Lord that direct devotees of the Lord have.
