Chapter 100: Rāma Instructs Bharata About the Duties of a King
Text 2.100.7

कच्चित्सौम्य न ते राज्यं भ्रष्टं बालस्य शाश्वतम्॥

kaccit saumya na te rājyaṁ bhraṣṭaṁ bālasya śāśvatam

kaccit = I hope; saumya = gentle Bharata; na = not; te = by You; rājyam = kingdom; bhraṣṭam = has been destroyed; bālasya = who are young and inexperienced; śāśvatam = the stable.

Gentle Bharata, I hope the stable kingdom has not been destroyed by You who are young and inexperienced.

Rāma hoped that the citizens loved Bharata.1

1 When citizens do not have genuine love for their ruler, it is understood that the kingdom is already destroyed—as per the considerations of Vedic scriptures which truthfully describe the benefits of having a dhārmika ruler.
