Chapter 100: Rāma Instructs Bharata About the Duties of a King
Text 2.100.61

कच्चिद्वृद्धांश्च बालांश्च वैद्यमुख्यांश्च राघव।
दानेन मनसा वाचा त्रिभिरेतैर्बुभूषसे॥

kaccid vṛddhāṁś ca bālāṁś ca vaidya-mukhyāṁś ca rāghava
dānena manasā vācā tribhir etair bubhūṣase

kaccit = do You; vṛddhān ca = of elders; bālān ca = children; vaidya-mukhyān = the best of the learned; ca = and; rāghava = O descendant of Raghu; dānena = giving gifts of pleasing items; manasā = being affectionate in the mind; vācā = and speaking words of conciliation; tribhiḥ = three; etaiḥ = by these [acts]; bubhūṣase = desire to win the favor.

O descendant of Raghu, do You desire to win the favor of elders, children and the best of the learned by these three [acts]—giving gifts of pleasing items, being affectionate in the mind and speaking words of conciliation?
