तथा निपतितं रामं जगत्यां जगतीपतिम्।
कूलघातपरिश्रान्तं प्रसुप्तमिव कुञ्जरम्॥
भ्रातरस्ते महेष्वासं सर्वतः शोककर्शितम्।
रुदन्तः सह वैदेह्या सिषिचुः सलिलेन वै॥
tathā nipatitaṁ rāmaṁ jagatyāṁ jagatī-patim
kūla-ghāta-pariśrāntaṁ prasuptam iva kuñjaram
bhrātaras te maheṣvāsaṁ sarvataḥ śoka-karśitam
rudantaḥ saha vaidehyā siṣicuḥ salilena vai
tathā nipatitam = who had fallen; rāmam = Rāma; jagatyām = on the ground; jagatī-patim = the Lord of the world; kūla-ghāta-pariśrāntam = that had become exhausted due to injuries from its herd; prasuptam = and unconscious; iva kuñjaram = He resembled an elephant; bhrātaraḥ te = the three brothers; mahā-iṣu-āsam = of the archer; sarvataḥ = all over the body; śoka-karśitam rudantaḥ = while crying; saha = with; vaidehyā = Vaidehī; siṣicuḥ = then sprinkled; salilena vai = water.
The three brothers while crying with Vaidehī then sprinkled water all over the body of the archer Rāma, the Lord of the world, who had fallen on the ground. He resembled an elephant that had become exhausted due to injuries from its herd and unconscious.
Rāma resembled an elephant exhausted due to injuries from its herd because of excitement and because of being scratched by the tusks [of other elephants in its herd]. The three brothers and Sītā-devī sprinkled water all over Rāma’s body to wake Him up 1.
