Chapter 102: Rāma Performs Śrāddha for King Daśaratha
Text 2.102.15
सीते मृतस्ते श्वशुरः पित्रा हीनोऽसि लक्ष्मण।
भरतो दुःखमाचष्टे स्वर्गतं पृथिवीपतिम्॥
sīte mṛtas te śvaśuraḥ pitrā hīno ’sti lakṣmaṇa
bharato duḥkham ācaṣṭe svar-gataṁ pṛthivī-patim
sīte = Sītā; mṛtaḥ = has died; te = your; śvaśuraḥ = father-in-law; pitrā = of Your father; hīnaḥ asti = You are now deprived; lakṣmaṇa = Lakṣmaṇa; bharataḥ = Bharata; duḥkham = has sorrowfully; ācaṣṭe = informed us; svaḥ-gatam = has departed to the heavens; pṛthivī-patim = that the king.
Sītā, your father-in-law has died! Lakṣmaṇa, You are now deprived of Your father! Bharata has sorrowfully informed us that the king has departed to the heavens.
